Today’s featured Blogger tutorial comes in the form of a video courtesy of PixelFrau. It’s a tutorial that teaches you how you can move your Blogger blog to a custom domain. It’s pretty easy as long as you already have registered a domain name with a registrar. PixelFrau’s tutorial uses NameCheap but you can basically use any other registrar out there (e.g. Moniker, TuCows,  Enom, etc) because it won’t really matter that much as you follow their tutorial and they’ll explain why in the video.

Below is the summary of the video’s transcript of the instructions:

  1. Go to your registrar and find the DNS settings for the domain you want your blog to appear on.
  2. Create a CNAME record:
Host: www
IP Address/URL: ghs.google.com
 Record Type: CNAME (Alias)

3. Create 4 ‘A’ records:

Host: yourdomain.com (leave off the www)
IP Address/URL: 216.239.32.21
Record Type: A (Address)
Host: yourdomain.com (leave off the www)
IP Address/URL: 216.239.34.21
Record Type: A (Address)
Host: yourdomain.com (leave off the www)
IP Address/URL: 216.239.36.21
Record Type: A (Address)
Host: yourdomain.com (leave off the www)
IP Address/URL: 216.239.38.21
 Record Type: A (Address)

4. Save your changes.
5. Go to Blogger, find the blog you want to move and click ‘Settings’.
6. Click ‘Add a custom domain’.
7. Click ‘Switch to advanced settings’.
8. Type your domain in the field provided (include www).
9. Save your changes (it may take up to 24 hours for your changes to take effect).
